Conceived in 1997 as a high school project, Founder Annette Blenkarn created a business plan for a Decals & Graphics company that would provide the much needed service for racer’s and trucker’s alike. Since then, the company has grown to provide many services for all businesses with sign or design needs.
In 1997, Annette was racing mini-sprints at Deming Speedway, and found that it was difficult for her (and her competitors) to get their sponsor’s decals in time for the next race if they should have a wreck. It seemed to be the common complaint in the pits. Annette had a passion for the racing industry as she had started racing at the age of 9 with Quarter Midgets (www.annetteracing.com), so naturally she wanted her school project to be associated with her passion. In addition, her father was a truck driver so she also had exposure to that industry since she was a baby...
The concept of the business was to provide: 1) mobile service and quick turnaround time for race cars that needed replacement decals between races due to wrecks, and 2) trucker’s who are not able to part with their units for more then a couple of hours, needed service that worked with their schedules and came to where they were loading or resting. It was difficult for racer’s and trucker’s to have the service they needed for their industries, so this “pretend” business plan addressed that.
Annette’s high school instructor was so impressed with the business plan, and Annette’s knowledge of each targeted industry that she insisted Annette submit the plan for a Student Summer Business Start-up Loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). The BDC was equally impressed after her presentation to them, and they awarded her the Start-up Loan.
Later, Annette went on to earn her Desktop Publishing Diploma, and her Marketing Management education from Kwantlen University College. Where at such time, BME Decals & Graphic started offering more then just race car graphics and truck graphics, but complete design and sign services.
Now the company services more then just the racing and trucking industries, and has an “in-house” team that creates and delivers what you need.
